During this event, the organizers announced that next year Conf- IRM 2018 will take place at the University of Nottingham, based in the city of Ningbó, China.
Between the 17th and 19th of May it was held the 10th edition of the international event Conference on Information Resources Management, Conf-IRM 2017 at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Universidad de Chile, made up by the academics Felix B Tan from the University of New Zealand, and Ariel La Paz, from the Department of Management Control and Information Systems.
This conference, whose main topic was focused on democratization and participation: the role of people in a digital world, is affiliated with the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and offers a space for academics from all over the world to be able to share their research on systems management and decision making. At the same time, it pursues that the participants get feedback from their pairs in order to improve their research work and promote them in future stages of academic dissemination.
The conference was attended by academics from around the world, who during the first day jointly participated of a workshop with editors-in-chief of important journals of the discipline: Anol Bhattacherjee (Journal of the Association of Information Systems); Patrick Chau, (Information & Management); Fred Niederman (The Data Base for Advances in Information Systems); and Alexandre Graeml (Revista Eletrônica de Sistemas de Informação).
Through the following days, parallel sessions were developed, with about 50 articles presented and discussed on research.
Also, in this conference some principal speakers participated, Gabriel Purón from the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (or its acronym in Spanish, CIDE, Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas) from Mexico; and Héctor Romero, Codelco’s Innovation Manager.
Mr. Purón, in his presentation titled: “From Leaderless Revolution to Citizen-Centric ICT-enabled Tools for Democratization and Participation in Latin America”, mentions the technological infrastructure existing in Latin America.
Whilst, Romero in his presentation: “Digital Codelco, Driving the New Codelco”, addressed the evolution of the business model and the main challenges of the copper company, its strategic approach, results and the digital community of the company.
